This graphic design appeals to me despite on how it looks simple as
it subtly instructs the viewer to avoid living in garbage-like
behavior. I find myself intrigued by the font's style and how it
conceals a deeper meaning beneath the words. Even while the statements
may come off as disrespectful to some viewers, I find that they serve
as a constant reminder to take a moment and think before doing
something, in which it also inspires me to improve myself. Hence, this
design portrays an important message about reminding ourselves that we
can make a difference by creating this positive energy and surrounding
it with others.
This graphic design intrigues me as the font' style of the "BORN PINK" illustrates a 3D metal finish while having an outer space background. Personally, I really like the concept and how aesthetically pleasing the design looked. It portrays a dynamic character upon the font which makes it shine through and attract the viewers' attention. There are a lot of details that are being portrayed and I just love how organized the layout is. Overall, this design intrigues me to learn on how to design a music album cover.
This graphic design which uses the most simple photos, attracts me to their theme of simplicity. The giant butterfly that settles on the building may signify different kinds of meanings; all of them depending on each person's perspective. The possibilities for creative expression and personal growth in digital photography are endless. That is why I appreciate how this design conveys simplicity while also being aesthetically pleasant to the eye.
Week 2
- Introduction to Photoshop
- Photoshop Exercise practice
- Lasso Tool: Allows us to draw and pinpoint specific areas of a document.
- Magnetic Lasso Tool: It enables the selection's border to "snap" to the pixelated borders of an element that the user trace in a picture. This tool allows in the selection of objects with intricate and irregular edges.
- Polygonal Lasso Tool: It allows to create irregular polygonal selection shapes by drawing straight-edged selections.
- Pen Tool: It is the way that we add these points and the way we drag the tool while at the same time creating the points which determines on how they will look.
- Layering: Layers are different images stacked on top of each other and it can be used for a non-destructive editing.

- Hearst Mansion Practice
- During the first exercise, we learned a lot of things, including:
- Adjust the color correction: Luminance, Color Intensity, Fade
- Add noise filter to Shazam to match image quality as the resolution of Shazam is better than the Hearst Mansion. [Filter > Noise > Add Noise]
- Make shadow: Add a new layer for shadow (shadow should be put underneath the Shazam layer) > Use brush tool and choose black color (adjust size and hardness *it should be softer*) > Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and reduce down the opacity
- Add reflection: Duplicate Shazam layer [Command J to duplicate and put underneath] > Go to free transform mode [Command T] and add a minus in front of the height and drag it upside down.
- Apply layer mask on reflection and Shazam.
- Use polygonal lasso tool to crop it out > add vector mask.
- Adjust the color correct for reflection layer. [Image > Adjustment > Hue/Saturation]
- Apply Ripple Filter to Shazam's reflection layer [Filter > Distort > Ripple]. Don't forget to adjust amount and size.
Week 3
INSTRUCTIONS
(A) Physical Collage
For this assignment, we are required to make a physical collage out of
magazines, newspapers or other printed materials. I used Harper's BAZAAR
(Malaysia, March 2023 edition) and GRACIA (Malaysia, March 2023 edition)
as the source since I found them to be the most suitable sources for the
collage concept that I am going to create.
I finally came up with three distinct compositions since I wanted to
experiment with different components and how I am able to arrange
them.
- PRE-COMPOSITION #1
- PRE-COMPOSITION #2
- PRE-COMPOSITION #3
Mr. Martin gave us feedback on our physical collage
during the second week's practical session, and he chose my second
composition over the other two. Hence, I decided to chose composition #2
for my final physical collage and made some few changes.

(B) Digital Imaging Exercise
Hearst Mansion Exercise
During the first exercise, we were given a picture of the interior
picture of Hearst Mansion. We had to took a photo of ourself using the
right lightning and techniques, so it can replace the Shazam's layer
with our own photo and making it appear as realistically as
possible.
