'Zero Hunger' Research
According to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, 'Zero Hunger' (Goal 2) aims to eradicate all forms of hunger and malnutrition by 2030. This means to ensure that people have access to sufficient and nutritious food all year round, along with improving agricultural productivity and supporting small-scale farmers. It also addresses the root causes of hunger such as poverty, lack of infrastructure, and environmental degradation. By achieving this goal, the UN hopes to create a world where everyone has access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food.

Visual References
The image below are some visual references that I compiled into a mood board before creating the poster.

Sketch
I make two sketches ideas for my Zero Hunger poster which can be seen from the images below:

Figure 1.2 Rough Sketch #1 (05.05.2023)

Figure 1.3 Rough Sketch #2 (05.05.2023)

Between the two sketches, I decided to choose on the second sketch after receiving some feedback from Ms. Noranis. This poster design will emphasize on sharing food/meal and support others who are in need while also highlighting the access to nutritious food.

Figure 1.3 Illustration Process (12.05.2023)

I started creating the hand illustration using the pen tool. This process took most of my time as I also need to create the shadow and add details on them. After finishing with the hand illustration, I continued with drawing the food box and then lastly followed by choosing the suitable font for the poster tagline.

Artwork Title: End Hunger, Empower Lives
Design Rationale
The artwork depicts a world without hunger, with everybody having access to healthy and nutritious food. It is dedicated to the United Nation's goal of ending global hunger as it demonstrates the significance of food security and sustainable agriculture in the abolition of hunger and poverty. I created this illustrated poster to promote awareness and support for the goal of eradicating world hunger while also emphasizing the importance of worldwide cooperation and teamwork in order to attain this aim. The poster's brilliant colors and artwork create a sense of hope and optimism, motivating the viewers to act and contribute to the cause of ending the world hunger. The "Zero Hunger" artwork is a call to action for individuals and governments to take a meaningful efforts towards eliminating hunger. It may motivates individuals to support local farmers, reduce food waste, and advocate for legislation that ensures everyone has access to healthful food. The artwork also emphasizes the importance of global cooperation and collaboration in addressing the underlying causes of hunger and poverty, such as conflict and inequality. Overall, the "Zero Hunger" artwork invites people to take action and contribute to a world free of hunger. Hence, the artwork serves as a strong reminder of the crucial importance of addressing this critical issue and working towards a more equal and sustainable future for all.

FEEDBACK
  • Ms. Noranis said it was a great idea and concept as it can portray the SDG message clearly.

REFLECTION
Throughout this project, I was able to learned and research about SDG Goals in order for me to pick the theme that I want. I also gained some technical abilities while using the Adobe Illustrator on creating this poster. It is still fascinates the fact that I can create whatever type of digital design just by using the pen tool, shape tool and adding the visual and color effects. I actually enjoy this assignment as I was able to choose the theme and express the idea freely. Overall, I am satisfied with the results of my illustrated poster.
