INSTRUCTIONS
Final Project | Animated Infographics
For this final project, we are asked to investigate the assigned subject
matter within our group and dissect the data into two distinct components: a
narrative and visual aids aimed at enlightening the audience about the
topic. Prior to transferring the data onto our storyboard, integrate the
"What, why, where, when, who, and how" questions to construct our
narrative effectively. Utilize pertinent imagery to establish connections between information and
infographics, while also incorporating the provided chart to
determine the most suitable visual representation.
Expected outcomes:
- A dynamic infographic in the form of an animated video that educates the audience on the designated topic (ranging from 1.5 to 3 minutes in duration).
- Incorporate some form of statistical data.
- Implement the questioning technique to provide comprehensive answers.
1) Data to Information
We kicked off our project by conducting thorough research on the history of Pac-Man. We explored a wide array of sources, ranging from historical documents to online articles, in order to gather comprehensive information about the game's origins, development milestones, and cultural impact

3) Script Breakdown
With our research in hand, we collaborated to create a compelling script that would effectively narrate Pac-Man's story. We outlined key events, characters, and themes, ensuring a coherent and engaging narrative flow.

5) Storyboard Animatics
With the storyboard complete, we transitioned to creating the animatics. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, we assembled the storyboard panels into a sequential timeline, adding transitions, timing, and temporary audio elements to simulate the final animation. This allowed us to preview the pacing and visual progression of the animation before moving on to the final production stage.

5) Creating Assets
To visually represent Pac-Man's history, we created illustrations that captured the essence of each era and significant moment in the game's evolution. From the iconic yellow character to the colorful maze designs, every illustration was meticulously crafted to convey the spirit of Pac-Man.
6) Assembly Assets into Animation
With our script and illustrations finalized, me and Xiao Tong embarked on the animation process. Using animation software like Adobe After Effects, we brought our illustrations to motion, adding movement, transitions, and effects to enhance the storytelling experience. Each frame was carefully animated to synchronize with the narrative and evoke the interest of the viewers.

REFLECTION
Using Adobe After Effects to create an animated infographic about
Pac-Man's history was a very fulfilling experience. Throughout the
process, I researched deeply into Pac-Man's rich history and
discovered amazing details that influenced the character's development
from a cartoon to a cultural icon. In order to make the infographic
both visually stunning and educational, I experimented with different
animation styles and visual effects. Everything in the animation, from
the seamless transitions between significant moments in Pac-Man's past
to the nostalgic touches that bring back memories of the game, was
designed with the audience's engagement and fascination in mind.
Moreover, it was clear that efficient collaboration and communication
were essential to our success. Every team member contributed their
distinct abilities and viewpoints, which enhanced the creative
process. However, bringing our perspectives together and ensuring that
everyone had a voice needed patience and compromise. Despite facing challenges within the group stemming from a lack of initiative, the overall experience was valuable and provided opportunities for growth that I can apply in the future.
