REFLECTION

Experience

This class turned out to be much more fun and interesting than I had expected. When I first heard the term "Brand Corporate Identity," I had no idea what it would involve and assumed it would just be another business module. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it focused on the creative aspects of branding, which I thoroughly enjoyed as a designer. The freedom to design our own brand, with our own set of rules, made the experience even better. I wouldn't have wanted to learn about building a brand's identity in any other way. It was incredibly helpful to start from scratch and build a brand based on our inspirations and passions rather than being assigned a pre-existing idea. Overall, I was highly satisfied with this class. I am very grateful to Ms. Lilian, who guided me when I felt lost and helped me structure Matchacha in the best way possible.

Observations

Throughout this module, I had the opportunity to observe various brand styles and learn how each element contributes to a brand's identity. I now look at brands and their logos with admiration and curiosity, wondering about the designer's thought process behind each look. I also had to ensure that my work for Matchacha maintained a consistent look across different applications. While I knew the importance of consistency, achieving it without making the design look mismatched or out of place was challenging.

Findings

Through this module, I learned a lot about logo design and myself. I realized the importance of rationalization in creating a logo. On a personal level, I always assumed my café idea would have a traditional look, but working on Matchacha pushed me to explore a more fun and minimalist style. Despite incorporating traditional elements, I was surprised by my ability to create something I am genuinely proud of. Thus, this experience taught me not to be afraid of exploring different styles.
